Older readers of Climber will know Stevie Haston's reputation only too well and some may even have been on the receiving end of his sharp tongue. But, despite an outstanding record of all-round achievement in trad and sport climbing, alpinism and ice and mixed climbing, he is still something of an outcast from the British climbing community, something he's still bitter about.
However, at 52 years old and a grandad he's still going strong, doing an F8c+ last October and still working on his F9a project. Here's a short video clip of Stevie showing off his project at the spectacular Grotte de Sabart soon in Ariege - tentatively called The Immaculate Conception because Stevie thinks his chances of doing it are about as likely. And watch out for the October issue of Climber when we'll bring you the full interview with the man himself.
